City should pay for skateboard park, not parents

To the editor:

I've been reading about building skateboard parks in Southeast Missouri towns. I think it's a good idea. But they've also been talking about parents paying for it. That, I think, is wrong. Instead of parents paying for the park, the city should take responsibility for their youths and pay for the park so the youths can practice and express their talent or hobby.
