Construction of the new Notre Dame High School will start within a month. The announcement is a tribute to those who raised $5.3 million in cash and pledges to build the much-needed structure.

The campaign kicked off last July. The 150 volunteers have worked hard to realize this impressive goal. It represents the largest single financial effort every undertaken by the Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese.

Support for the project is broad-based. More than 1,500 contributors pledged their generous support. The need is clear: The existing high school is bulging at the seams with a steady growing enrollment. But the success of the drive also underscores the solid support of parents and businesses.

Notre Dame is a credit to the diocese and Southeast Missouri. The new high school will only further its service to the region.
