MAIN STREET PROGRAM TO REVITALIZE DOWNTOWN CAPE GIRARDEAU NEEDS GOOD SUPPORT BASE

Cape Girardeau's designation last week as a Main Street Community is intended to spur revitalization efforts in the historic downtown area.

But it won't happen if interested merchants, residents and city boosters don't get involved.

A public meeting to explain the Main Street program is planned for 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the River City Yacht Club at the Port Cape Girardeau restaurant.

Sounds like a good place for downtown supporters to have lunch.
