CHICAGO -- Mona Fern-Smith, 55, of Chicago died April 8, 1993, at her home. The cause of death was cancer.
She was born in Perryville on March 29, 1938, to Elta Berkbigler and the late Paul Berkbigler. She married Clarence E. Smith of Chicago on Feb. 14, 1987.

Other survivors include a sister, Josephine Schnurbusch of Perryville; a brother, Tom Berkbigler of Cape Girardeau; two nieces, four nephews and one great-nephew.
Services were held Friday at Petersen's Funeral Home in Chicago.
