HONORS

  • Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center students participated in the National SKILLS USA competition in June in Kansas City. Two groups placed in the marketing video category. Ron Pokracki of Marble Hill, Mo., and Zach Harris of Scott City received a gold medal as a post-secondary team. Daniel Lies and Niki Cofield of Jackson received a silver medal as a secondary team.
  • The Southeast Health on Wheels Mobile won the Community Partnership Award at the third annual Obesity Conference in Sikeston, Mo.
  • The following students made the dean's list at Three Rivers Community College for the spring 2008 semester: Laurel Martin of Zalma, Mo., Kristal Ward of Marble Hill, Mo., Bobbie Jones and Rebekah Rigg of Jackson, Meridith Medlin of Cape Girardeau, Aaron Ashley of Altenburg, Mo., Sarah Kinney of Oran, Mo., and Jaeson Fraser of Chaffee, Mo.
  • Sara Cook of Cape Girar¿deau made the dean's list for the spring 2008 semester at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo.
  • Lessley Dennington and Anne Himmelberg of Cape Girardeau and Alex Beussink of Jackson attended the Missouri Chamber of Commerce Leadership in Practice program at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.
  • Franklin Elementary School in Cape Girardeau received a bronze Healthy Schools Program National Recognition Award, sponsored by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The school had to demonstrate it met food, health and PE requirements. Recently Franklin started a "Half Marathon Club," where students exercise and learn about healthy choices on Friday mornings.
