Water on roadway leads to Monday evening crash

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. - Water on the roadway was to blame for a Monday evening motor vehicle accident on Route E near Benton.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that at around 5:10 p.m. a 1993 Chevrolet driven by Brian Scherer, 32, was traveling westbound on the roadway when the vehicle passed over the water and overturned.

Scherer was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he was treated for serious injuries. The Chevrolet was totaled.
