March 23, 1996 DARE CHOIR MAKES DEBUT:The Washington Elementary School mascot played air guitar for the final number during the first performance of the DARE Choir Thursday afternoon. The choir consists of students from Washington School and will perform at other Cape Girardeau elementary schools.

MARCH 29, 1988 "Transportation on the River" is the theme of the 85-foot-long, 10-foot high mural that Jackson artist Craig Thomas is painting on the walls of Washington School in Cape Girardeau. The mural, which is a view of Cape Girardeau including several boats on the Mississippi and the river bridge, is funded through the elementary school's PTA and Centerre Bank, Washington School's Adopt-a-School partner.
