Only 7,153 of Cape Girardeau County's 48,921 registered voters went to the polls Tuesday, less than 15 percent.
Turnout was slightly higher in the city of Cape Girardeau -- 18.4 percent -- where there was a mayor's race. The totals don't include those who voted absentee.
County Clerk Rodney Miller had estimated 25 percent of the county's registered voters would go to the polls.
