Two fires unrelated to other suspicious Cape Girardeau blazes

While Cape Girardeau police detectives are looking for "a person or group of persons" responsible for a series of suspicious fires in the city, two blazes stand alone.

• Big River Grand Prix go-cart track at 610 Commercial St., which burned Sept. 2.

"That's still an open investigation, but it is not considered to be related to the others," said Cape Girardeau police detective Joe Tado.

• Lowes and Drusch Law Firm, 2913 Independence St., where a July 4 fire caused an estimated $3,000 in damage. Jeffrey V. Mirgeaux, 47, of Cape Girardeau was convicted in October of second-degree arson for the fire. On Feb. 24, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
