The driver of the vehicle, Paula Childs, 22, of Festus, Mo., suffered serious injuries.

The engineer, Randy Holder, 39, of Scott City, was not injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the lead engine of the train struck Childs' vehicle in the right side as it crossed the railroad tracks.
