FISK -- A Brosley man died after his automobile collided with a Union Pacific locomotive Thursday morning.
Hershel Batten, 53, died at 8:12 a.m. after failing to stop his 1986 Oldsmobile at a train crossing while traveling northbound on Butler County Road 627, a mile east of Fisk.
Batten collided with the westbound train and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although no gate blocks the crossing, it is marked by a sign. The train was also blaring its warning horn.
