Barricades are in place near the North High and East Washington streets intersection in Jackson as work begins Monday, Oct. 2, on the nearly $7.1 million U.S. 61 improvement project. Only local traffic is being permitted through the closure zone as the 13-month project commences, according to Missouri Department of Transportation. Completion of the work, led by Jackson's Penzel Construction, is anticipated Nov. 1, 2024.
