As part of the Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program, work on the Highway 8 bridge over Big River in St. Francois County will begin at 6:30 a.m April 26, weather permitting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane from Harmon Lane to Germania Road with a 10-foot width restriction. Traffic will be controlled by temporary signals, and drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. The Highway 8 bridge improvements are expected to be completed in late July.
