St. Francis Medical Center has initiated an asthma self-management program to provide education and instruction to adults, parents and asthmatic children.
Sessions are held on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for five weeks on a continuing basis. The program begins a new cycle every five weeks.
Studies show that patient education, self-management and an effective medical regimen can result in decreased hospital admissions, emergency visits and health-care costs.
