ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) -- Police in the St. Louis-area town of St. Charles say they're trying to reach out to the community with the appointment of an ombudsman.
Assistant Chief Michael Amendola will fill the role of ombudsman, giving the public a central point of contact for questions or concerns about police services or actions.
A police spokesman says Chief Dennis Corley created the position to generate positive interaction between the public and the department.
