ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- A former St. Charles County official pleaded guilty Friday to stealing nearly $50,000 in public funds. Marvin Freeman, the former director of the county's Department of Workforce Development, entered his plea in St. Charles County Circuit Court to Judge Ellsworth Cundiff.

Cundiff was scheduled to decide Freeman's sentence in July. The plea was part of an agreement that federal charges would not be sought.
