Snow was the reason that Cape Girardeau schools were closed Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011. The snow provided a day of fun for some, but not for everyone.

A Chevrolet Suburban driven by Derek Linnes of Cape Girardeau ended up in a creek Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2010 across from 942 West Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau. Linnes, who was alone in the car, said he was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.  With Linnes eastbound, he passed a westbound automobile that had just pulled onto the road. Linnes said that while moving closer to the edge of the road, which was near a curve, he had difficulty keeping the vehicle on the road. Ice covered the road but had cinders spread on it.
