Small earthquake causes tremors in Southeast Mo. POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A small earthquake near Poplar Bluff on Monday morning wasn't strong enough to cause any damage. National Weather Service meteorologist Alex Dodd said the 2.8 magnitude quake at 5:45 a.m. originated about 4 miles below the earth's surface and was centered about 15 miles north of Poplar Bluff.
