The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to open a new outpatient clinic for veteran care in Sikeston, Mo., according to a news release from the department.

The VA plans to establish 31 clinics in 16 states nationwide. The Sikeston clinic will become operational by 2009.
The department's medical care budget of more than $36 billion this year will provide health care to about 5.5 million people.
