Search continues for man in river

The New Madrid County Sheriff's Department will continue its search today for a man who was reported to have fallen out of a boat into the Mississippi River near the Old Ferry landing east of Portageville, Mo.

Portageville police relayed the report of a man fallen overboard around 4 p.m. Saturday to the sheriff's department.

Helicopters and patrol boats were sent in to aid in the search, which was called off for the night around 8:30 p.m.
