COMMERCE, Mo. -- A car crash on Route N in Scott County early Saturday evening claimed the life of a Scott City man.

Richard E. Lashmet, 35, of Scott City, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about two miles north of Commerce.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday when a 1997 Pontiac driven by Lashmet ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
