Group tours of the Red House Interpretive Center in Cape Girardeau can be made by contacting the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau at 335-1631. Admission is discounted for students.
The house's July schedule:
- The Red House will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 1 to 5, July 15 to 19, July 22 to 26 and July 29 to 31.
- A historical encampment by Lucas Beine, complete with tent and demonstrations, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 2.
- The Sons of the American Revolution will be in costume and available for historical discussion on the front porch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4. The historical American flag collection from 1777 to 2008 will be on display.
- A musical performance by Dan Wiethop, local singer and storyteller, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. July 5.
- The Red House will be open for tours from 1 to 4 p.m. July 6, 13, 20 and 27.
- The Red House will be closed July 7, 14, 21 and 28.
- The public is invited to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the incorporation of the city of Cape Girardeau from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23. At 10 a.m. the town crier will announce the festivities, Ken Bratton will speak about the history of the platting and incorporation of the city. Cake will be served all day.
- Storytelling with Dean Allison will be at 10:30 a.m. July 26.
