The Missouri Public Service Commission will host a public hearing tonight for locals to give their opinions on a natural gas rate increase proposed by utility Ameren Missouri.

Ameren filed for the increase in June. The increase would raise the average residential gas bill $87 per year.

The hearing is at the Glenn Auditorium in Southeast Missouri State University's Dempster Hall at 5:30 p.m. Look for an updated report after the hearing on semissourian.com.
