The warming shelter at the Salvation Army building, 701 Good Hope St., was forced to close late this morning due to loss of power, the City of Cape Girardeau reported in a news release. The release said the Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority is transferring people from the shelter to the Osage Community Centre until power can be restored to the Salvation Army building...

As of shortly after 3 p.m. power had been restored to the Salvation Army building at 701 Good Hope St.

Power was interrupted earlier Wednesday and people taking shelter from the cold there were bussed to another local cold shelter, the Osage Community Centre.

The Salvation Army will be open until 9 p.m. tonight, and may remain open after that if people need overnight accommodations.

The Osage will also remain open as a warming shelter.
