NEW MADRID, Mo. (AP) -- Pioneer Hi-Bred is building a new $55 million soybean seed production plant in Southeast Missouri.

Company officials were joined by Gov. Jay Nixon at a groundbreaking ceremony Monday in New Madrid County. The new plant is on 129 acres and is expected to employ about 50 people once it is fully operational. The plant is expected to begin operation in the fall of 2011.
