Marcia England, second grader at Jefferson School, points to a calendar made by Mrs. Alma Evitt’s class. The Confederate Flag she is pointing to signifies Feb. 18, as the date Jefferson Davis became president of the Confederacy. Also depicted are birthdates of famous persons and important events in history.  Shown left to right are Brenda Bergstrom, Sherri Tranum, Connie Shirrell, Lary Reutzel and Kathy Sitze. (G.D. Each pupil chose a day of the month, did outside research on the importance of that date, and gave a report on the famous person or event that took place on that day. The pupils then drew pictures depicting the day and mounted them on a wall to form a picture calendar.
