Around 7:50 p.m. Friday, someone was struck by a train at the lower circle of East Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau, said Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the police department.

The call came in as a train accident involving a person, Hovis said.

A third party transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

The person was conscious and the injuries did not appear life-threatening, Hovis said.
