  • From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5, a general meeting/orientation will be held at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. It is open to the public. A video presentation on "Hope Seeds" will be given. Hope Seeds is a not-for-profit organization that sends seeds and supplies, clothing and gardening tools to poorer countries. Bring a guest or prospective member and stay to play cards.
  • Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6, Parents Without Partners will hold a "Road Rally" (scavenger hunt). Meet at 212 W. Main St. in Jackson to get instructions. After the rally, there will be an Amigo dinner at the home of one of the members. Amigo dinners are a way of welcoming new members into the organization. There is no cost to new members. Current members are asked to bring a covered dish.
  • At 2 p.m. Oct. 7, there will be a family activity at the Begg's Farm in Benton, Mo. Participants will meet at Boomland at the Benton exit off of Interstate 55. Participants can see a working farm, get lost in the cornfield mazes, take a wagon ride and pick a pumpkin from the patch. There will be homemade fudge and other refreshments.   • From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 12, the divorce recovery series and discussion group will meet at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. The topic is identity. There is no fee, and the event is open to the public. Bring a guest or prospective member and stay to play cards or "Sequence."
  • From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19, there will be a board/orientation meeting at Delmonico's restaurant in Jackson. There is no fee, and the event is open to the public. Bring a guest or prospective member and stay to play games.
  • At 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at Rocky Holler on U.S. 61 in Jackson, there will be a Haunted Hayride.
  • Meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Imperial building 1219 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau for a trip to Harrah's Casino in Metropolis, Ill. Participants will eat dinner along the way.
  • From 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 27, a Halloween dance will be held at the VFW in Cape Girardeau. There will be a costume contest. It is open to the public, and singles and couples are welcome. The cost is discounted for members. Music will be by Charlie's Review.
