Open burn catches shed on fire

Cape Girardeau firefighters responded to a shed fire Tuesday afternoon.

The fire, in the 1900 block of Montgomery Street in Cape Girardeau, started after the home's residents had been burning some materials outside, Cape Girardeau Fire Department chief Rick Ennis said.

He said the fire spread from the open burn to a nearby wood pile, and from the woodpile to the shed.

No one was injured.
