LOS ANGELES -- Scientists said NASA's much-hyped mission to hurl a spacecraft into the moon turned out some worthwhile data after all.
They said the mission went off great even though many observers had expressed disappointment that the Oct. 9 impact was less than spectacular.
New images released over the weekend show a mile-high plume of lunar debris from the Cabeus crater shortly after the space agency's Centaur rocket struck.
