Dr. and Mrs. Bryce March were happy and surprised to find the photo of their two children in the Mystery photo gallery, published in the Southeast Missourian on Sunday, November 4, 2012. The children, Melissa Lu March and her younger brother, Stephen Ross March, appear to have been 6 and 5 years old, respectively, when they were enjoying those flapjacks at Pancake Day which was being held at the Arena Building.

An eager-looking group of youngsters posed for G.D. Fronabarger outside the Missourian building. G. Paul Corbin was able to ID the youngsters: "This is Mrs. Elsie Thomas's Washington Elementary School's 6th grade class on a field trip to The Southeast Missourian newspaper building in May 1954. Front row, left to right; Janet Welch, Vickie Givens, Kaye Jacobs, Peggy Phillips, Jane Griffin, Eastman Foster, Skipper Howell,Ken Gleason, Everett Shackles, Tim Young, Harold Cobb and John Thomas. Second Row; John Lohmeyer, Larry Sanders, Jim Lohmeyer, unknown, Lawrence Ervin and Danny Slinkard. In a colorful “fiesta” of songs and dances, pupils of the fourth grade Spanish class of new Jefferson School displayed their ability Tuesday afternoon at mastering the language and native dances. Parents of the pupils and special guests made up the audience for the event held in the school gymnasium. Pupils taking part were, from the left, front row: Larry Burnette, Mike Berry, Richard Davis, Steve Wilson, Frank Niehart, Eddie Spivey, Jerry Nelson and Jimmy McAuley.
