Monett, Mo. man drowns while at Stockton Lake

GREENFIELD, Mo. -- A man drowned Saturday while swimming with co-workers at a beach at Stockton Lake, authorities said. The Missouri State Water Patrol said Manuel Mauris, 35, of Monett Mo., went under while swimming to a ring buoy at the Ruark Swim Beach. When he did not resurface, officers began searching for him. The patrol described Mauris as a nonswimmer.
