ABOVE: A Cape Girardeau public works crew tested the Broadway floodgate Monday in advance of today's scheduled inspection by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Themis Street floodgate also was tested. The river stage was 14.3 feet, and it is projected to reach 33 feet by Saturday. Flood stage is 32 feet. The Themis Street floodgate is typically closed at 35 feet and the Broadway gate at 39 feet. BELOW: The Broadway floodgate is seen closed in advance of the inspection.
