Minor injuries from Sunday night fire in Cape

Cape Girardeau firefighters respond to a fire just after 6 p.m. Sunday at a duplex at 2741 Hawthorne Road. Battalion chief Brad Dillow said that crews needed only a few minutes to extinguish the relatively small fire, believed to have started in a closet. No serious injuries were reported, but Dillow said a small child apparently had suffered minor burns to the legs. Firefighters continued to watch for hot spots into the evening.
