CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A Cape Girardeau man was injured Wednesday when the three-wheeler he was trying to start ran over his leg.

Michael R. Ward, 33, of 601 Locust was treated for a broken leg at the Southeast Missouri Hospital emergency room and released.

A spokesman at the Cape Girardeau Police Department said Ward apparently was standing next to the vehicle when it started, "slipped into gear" and ran over his leg.

Police and the Cape County Private Ambulance Service responded to the accident.
