Man hurt in fire

A man was rescued Sunday night by firefighters who responded to a call at 1104 Themis St.

The fire was extinguished quickly. There was fire damage to the kitchen and smoke and heat damage to the first floor of the house, fire chief Rick Ennis said.

A man was discovered unconscious in the living room and taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital. The extent of his injuries was not known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
