Man hits tree

A traffic accident injured a Benton, Mo., man on Saturday on Route H, 2.5 miles north of Blodgett, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

James Russell, 50, was taken by ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The accident occurred at 7:10 a.m. when Russell's northbound car ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned, the patrol said.

Russell was charged with careless and imprudent driving and not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
