PILOT KNOB, Mo. -- A man has died after driving into the path of an Amtrak train in Southeast Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 62-year-old Clarence G. Wisdom, of Middlebrook. He died Monday morning about 2 miles north of the Iron County town of Pilot Knob after failing to yield to an oncoming train. Wisdom was driving a pickup truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol said the crossing has a yield and railroad sign but no other warning device.
