The Cape Girardeau Public Library will sponsor the first national Teen Read Week Oct. 19 to 25. The goal is to encourage reading so teens begin reading just for the fun of it.
Teens in grades seven through 12 are invited to the library any night during the week from 6 to 9 p.m. Those who choose reading over television receive a free book.
The library joins the Young Adult Library Services Association and the National Education Association in sponsoring the week.
