Incumbent Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder was in an extremely tight race Tuesday night against state Sen. Brad Lager. Kinder had 204,655 votes with 2,608 of 3,420 precincts counted statewide. Lager had 197,322. Kinder is a Cape Girardeau native.
