Public hearings

• Held a public hearing to consider the proposed abandonment of a portion of Shawn Drive, as submitted by Steve and Amelia Ledbetter, Howard and Shirley Duer, and Steve and Erikka Sokolowski.

Power and light committee

• Approved a motion amending the 2006 budget for funds exceeding their 2006 appropriations.
• Approved an ordinance accepting the bid of Floyd and Sons Tree Service of Cape Girardeau in the amount of $60,750 for the 2007 electric distribution tree trimming program.
• Approved an ordinance authorizing a contractual agreement with Floyd and Sons Tree Service for the 2007 electric distribution tree trimming program.
• Approved an ordinance authorizing a contractual agreement with the Reorganized School District R-II of Cape Girardeau County for the exchange of real estate with the Jackson High School campus.
• Approved an ordinance authorizing a contractual agreement with the Reorganized School District R-II of Cape Girardeau County for utility relocations at the Jackson High School campus.

Street committee

• Mayor Paul Sander vetoed aldermen's approval of an ordinance approving the abandonment of a portion of Shawn Drive, contingent upon the completion of the East Deerwood Drive bridge at U.S. Highway 61 North and the opening, for public vehicular traffic, of East Deerwood Drive from Greensferry Road to U.S. Highway 61 North.
• Approved a motion approving a 5 percent beer by the drink license for Lloyd Masterson, dba Lloyd's at 123 S. High St.
• Approved a motion to set a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. April 2 to consider a special-use permit request for a temporary mobile office unit on Lot 44 of Nine Oaks Subdivision in an R-2 (single family residential) district, as submitted by B&R Developers Inc.
• Approved an ordinance accepting the dedication of a street right of way deed for Orchard Drive from Missouri Lakes LLC.
