The Jackson Board of Aldermen on Monday night set a public hearing for 7 p.m. Dec. 21 to consider the city's 2016 budget.

The budget will include proposed sewer-rate increases and other utility increases.

The board during its short meeting Monday didn't discuss the amount of sewer or utility rate increases that would be sought.

The board also:

  • Passed a motion for a change order to Brockmiller Construction Inc. of Farmington, Missouri, in the amount of $19,352 for the Jackson Civic Center and FEMA safe-room project.
  • Approved a donation from the Jackson Area Youth Football of a scoreboard at the Jackson Football Park.
  • Approved a donation from the Jackson Municipal Band for improvements to the Niclous Herman Leist Memorial Band Shell in the city park.
  • Approved a beer-by-the-drink license for Bent Creek Golf Course.
  • Approved a preliminary plat of Jackson Ridge estates, Phase 8, as submitted by Brandon O. Williams Development.
  • Passed a bill proposing an amendment to a parking-prohibited schedule by adding a designation on West Main Street.
  • Passed a bill deleting segments of Orchard Drive, North West Lane and Interstate 55 and adding segments of Bainbridge Road, Lacey Street, South Donna Drive and Oak Street to the city's list of snow routes.
