Illinois State Police investigating fire, deaths in Cairo

CAIRO, Ill. -- The Illinois State Police are assisting the Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Cairo Police Department in investigating a residential fire in Cairo.

According to a state police news release, the investigation involves a fire in the 600 block of 37th Street "involving multiple deaths."

The news release states the information is "preliminary" and that the state police won't release more information, as the investigation is ongoing.
