INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- A stretch of Interstate 70 was closed for about 30 minutes during rush hour Tuesday when a man threatened to leap from an overpass, authorities said.
The man was taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m., and Independence police reopened the approximately five-mile stretch of highway that had been shut down in both directions, said dispatcher Eileen Swatzell.
