COOTER, Mo. A 38-year-old Caruthersville man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Pemiscot County early Thursday.
A spokesman for Missouri State Highway Patrol said that Joe D. Wells was walking south on Missouri Route H about three miles north of Cooter, Mo., when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle at about 5 a.m.

Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation by Pemiscot County authorities and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
