Temperatures in and around Cape Girardeau are expected to near 100 degrees this afternoon.
This morning the National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., forecast a high temperature of 99 degrees today, with heat indices over 100 degrees. High humidity is expected to stick around for the rest of the week, causing high heat indices in coming days, too.
A small chance of rain enters the forecast starting tonight.
The record high for Cape Girardeau for July 31 is 101 degrees, set in 1980.
