A residence in south Cape Girardeau suffered minor damage Wednesday night after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
The fire occurred about 9:10 p.m. at 1205 S. Ellis St. and took firefighters less than 20 minutes to put out, said battalion chief Brad Dillow.
The resident and children were at home at the time but got out safely, Dillow said.
The house suffered minor smoke damage, he said.
