Cape Girardeau firefighters responded to a report of fire around 4 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of South Pacific Street. The blaze started in a bedroom and spread through the rest of the house, extensively damaging the home, according to a news release.

The fire was electrical and appeared to be unintentional, according to the release.
