SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A front-end loader that was moving trash at a transfer station trapped and killed a 44-year-old man early Monday.

Robert Chew Jr., an employee of Babcock Disposal, was working at the station when he became trapped and was run over by the loader, said Springfield police officer Matt Brown.

Brown said Chew, of Cuba, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene. A police investigation into the death was continuing, Brown said.
