A fire that started in the attic caused moderate damage to a Cape Girardeau home early Thursday but resulted in no injuries.
According to Cape Girardeau Fire Department battalion chief Fred Vincel, crews were called to 1106 N. Fountain St. around 2:40 a.m. The fire was brought under control quickly, with the home sustaining moderate smoke and fire damage on the main floor. Damage was estimated at $5,000.
